The cities of Lisbon and Porto in Portugal were the main destinations of Angolans leaving the Angolan capital Luanda during the month of December for Christmas holidays and for health reasons, according to the Angop news agency.
Angolan airline TAAG offers 14 flights a week to the city of Lisbon and three flights to Porto, along with seven to Windhoek (Namibia), 11 to Johannesburg and four to Cape Town (South Africa), as well as five to the Mozambican city of Maputo.
Its counterpart TAP-Air Portugal on a daily basis (from Monday to Saturday) carries at least 475 passengers from the Angolan capital to Lisbon and Porto.
The cities of Windhoek and Johannesburg are the primary options among African destinations, according to a survey of passengers and travel agencies in December at 4 de Fevereiro International Airport.
The city of Maputo (capital of Mozambique) was the third most visited city in Africa by Angolans this month, who usually use Mozambican airline LAM, and Brazil appears to be the most sought after destination in the Americas.
TAAG flies to the Brazilian states of São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro seven and three times a week, respectively.
